Notes
A KVB K4000 tram heads into Neumarkt, a very large stop on Cologne’s LRV system. The newest paint scheme for them (assuming there is no advertisement) gives those units a red end piece, and the rest white, hence the nickname.
What you can see here in the front is an example of an extended-point switch, the same as HerrDrayer took a picture of in Munich. From what I’ve heard those odd things are actually quite common. As you can see here, the actual point is somewhere on the crossing road. The frog is underneath the tram, safely on the short piece of track that tram and normal road traffic do not share.
