To inaugorate the gallery section of this site, how about picture from HSB? HSB stands for Harzer Schmalspurbahnen, a narrow-gauge railroad crossing the Harz mountains.
99 7234 (the -0 is a control number and not normally mentioned) is one of many steam engines built in the GDR specially for traffic on that route, and is consequently known as one of the "new" engines. They carry most of the passenger carrying load there, simply because that’s the most frequent class on the network. Here it is sitting in Wernigerode in June 2005, waiting for a new job.
