There are many ways how a signal box can look like, but Maastricht’s is really something impressive. The tower with it’s “Post T” label always looks smaller than it really is. For size comparison, there’s a dutch double-decker train, running as the InterCity from Sittard, which is even a little larger than german double-decker cars, but it still looks completely lost next to this thing.
I didn’t actually spend any time in Maastricht at all, I just took a lot of pictures at the station. Normally I’d have expected some sort of huge station, but the amount of tracks actually used for passenger service is lower than in Goslar (although there are much more trains here). The rest of the area, however, with all it’s storage tracks, is extremely huge.
