140 037 heads back to Aachen West, coming from the route to Belgium. The class 140 itself cannot actually drive to Belgium due to different electricity systems and the fact that the route isn’t actually electrified yet (should be done before the end of 2008, though). For this reason I assume it was used on helper duty on the rather severe grade leading up to the belgian border, and is now returning for other work.

This unit has been put in service in 1958, according to a website. The same website gives 1961 for 140 202 which shenanigan87 is currently investiganting, so if the dates are correct, this one is three years older, but still in active service. I don’t really think that makes sense, but maybe the dates on the website are wrong.
