Notes
The train service on the Solingen-Remscheid-Wuppertal line on which the Müngsten Bridge, seen here, lies, is handled exclusively by class 628 DMUs, which run at twenty minute intervals, similar to an “S-Bahn” commuter rail. In fact, there is talk about extending the S7 line, currently ending in Solingen, to Wuppertal via this line. The problem would be that you’d have to electrify the route for that, meaning putting electrification poles on this bridge. I wouldn’t mind, but apparently there is some concern with the historical landmark status. Using DMUs all the way won’t work either, though, as the other end ends in a tunnel station (under an airport terminal), in which diesel vehicles are generally not allowed in Germany. Another problem would be that all platforms, which seem pretty new and modern, would have to be raised to offer level entry. We’ll see how this plays out.
I’ve been horrible at crediting ideas and inspiration I got, and I want to change that. So I’ll start by saying that I took the idea of having a small train, lots of landscape and a huge sky that tells me my laptop screen is dirty, from [vesko-from-munich](http://vesko-from-munich.deviantart.com/), whose gallery you really have to visit because it’s awesome and far better than anything I have.
