Notes
The Vossloh G 1700 offers a great chance for confusion since there are two very different locomotives with the name. The first, simply known as G 1700 BB, basically was a modified G 1206 and has since been stopped in favor of the older but more popular type. The second version, the G 1700-2 BB, is a completely new type. With a power output of 1700 kW (2280 HP) it’s, as far as I know, the most powerful european center-cab locomotive currently available (Voith’s Gravita 20 would be stronger, but hasn’t been built or ordered yet).
V 2303 of the Mittelweserbahn, full NVR-number 92 80 1277 402-4 D-MWB, belongs to the second type and was built in 2003. It is reported that it was last rented to a Berlin company called BEHALA for driver training, but to me it seems that it’s back in normal MWB service here in Cologne West.
