Notes
As a follow-up, see the standard european way of making a line that is technically still good physically inoperable. I’m not sure how well those ties would actually stop a train, but I’m not too eager to find out either.
In the background, see a Plan V belonging to Nederlandse Spoorwegen, as it heads out of Roermond I think towards Maastricht. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were replace soon by something newer (fun fact: The oldest are only one year younger than the oldest of the Budapest subway trains that [shenanigan87](http://shenanigan87) posted recently), but I’m not aware of any current plans to do so.
