Notes
It seems that the weather outside is absolutely horrible today, so I’ve decided to cancel my planned rail fan trip and instead sit at home, maybe watch a few episodes of Firefly… Oh, and of course post pictures from my last trip, which was yesterday.
The plan, if you can cal it that, was to go to Cologne West station to see whether any interesting freight trains were passing. When not enough came around I decided to go further to Cologne South, and when that didn’t work out either I decided to go much further south, to Bonn.
This picture, however, is still from Cologne West station. HGK’s DE 75 belongs to the MaK type DE 1002, which looks a lot like the MaK/Vossloh G 1206 and the like, but uses three-phase AC power transmission instead of hydraulic. It’s no longer built today, Vossloh’s german plant in Kiel only produces diesel-hydraulics now.
