Notes
The Talbrücke on Müngsten (Valley Bridge of Müngsten), part of the railway line Wuppertal — Remscheid — Solingen, is the highest railway bridge in all of Germany, rising 107 m (351 feet) above the river Wupper. It has a total length of 465 m (1.525 feet), a longest distance between pillars of 170 m (557 feet), was opened in the July of 1897, constructed by Maschinenfabrik Augsburg Nürnberg (MAN), weighs 5000 metric tons and so on. That’s impressive, but the really impressive thing is the bridge itself. Looking at it, it feels as if you walked into a post card.
Here, a class 628 DMU (the only kind of vehicle on the line) is passing over it. I don’t actually like this picture all that much. It’s good in itself, but it really can’t show the impressiveness of the bridge as well as a detail shot. However, it gives a good overview over the scene.
