There are two ways to visit the Atomium: You can go straight to the top sphere with an elevator, for which you have to wait a bit because of long lines, or you can follow a course through some of the lower spheres over a complicated series of stairs and escalators. I’ve chosen the latter, and I’d recommend it to every other tourist as well. The airplane-derived technology of the structure is just awesome to watch. Don’t worry, though, this particular staircase is off-limits, as far as I can tell it’s just for service purposes and as emergency ext. Such distances are crossed with escalators instead.
