Notes

Somehow, VIRM always sounds to me like a creature that must be killed in fantasy scenarios of various kinds. Actually, it stands for Verlengd Dubbeldeks Interregiomaterieel, in english roughly longer double-decker inter-regio train, an EMU type that seems very popular with the dutch railways. In fact, a new series has been ordered a while ago and is being delivered since July. They are built by one of NS’s favorite producers: Talbot Aachen (today Bombardier).

A detour I took to avoid a traffic jam led me past their factory today, so I got out of the car and took some pictures (with my old camera only since I wasn’t actually planning on anything). The train in the foreground looks pretty finished to me, and I dobut it’ll be long before it gets delivered. The one in the background, on the other hand, might still take a while.
