Notes

I wanted to post this fitting to the Vossloh Euro 4000, but without interrupting the Innotrans report, so here it is. The british class 67 is only operated by EWS, nowadays just one of the many names of german DB’s freight business. Even though the locomotive has Alstom builder plates, it was built in the same factory as the Euro 4000, which changed the owner in the meantime. For this reason, the overall shape of the locomotives is rather similar. Both are at times described as EMD locomotives, but actually, only the drivetrain is built by EMD.

I don’t know anything about the class 67 that isn’t on Wikipedia: A 200 kph (125 mph) fast diesel locomotive for express freight service, is also frequently hired to passenger rail operators. This is most likely the reason why it’s here in Fort Williams, since one of it’s main jobs is hauling the Caledonian Sleeper train from London to Scotland on the not-yet-electrified parts of the route.
