You see the oddest thing in the middle of the landscape sometimes. Driving through pretty standard land with the occasional forrest and otherwise large fields, I was kind of surprised to see “Bagger 290”, one of RWE Power’s (the company used to be known as Rheinbraun before) bucket-wheel excavators right in the middle.

I guess I shouldn’t have been, given that I was on my way trying to take a picture of Rheinbraun/RWE Power’s rail system, but how this thing appeared to be standing right in the middle of the normal landscape, with the hole not visible yet, was sure kind of weird. It was operating, by the way.
